Ahram Gate Interview: Egypt Is an Attractive Investment Climate and Our Expansion Plans Continue

Published on July 17, 2025

In an extended interview with Ahram Gate, businessman Hussein Al-Hutheily and his son Shawqi Al-Hutheily, the Group's Chief Executive, outlined their plans to expand investments in Egypt — a market they view as a magnet for capital — and reaffirmed the family's deep ties to the country, with Hussein stressing that «Egypt's hand has been generous to every part of the Arab world.»

Al-Hutheily explained that the Group already owns the International Glass Industries Corporation in Egypt and is preparing a feasibility study for an aluminium plant, alongside real-estate investments. A new glass plant is under construction in 6th of October City with a planned workforce of 700, as the Group continues construction works and equipment imports — drawing on the depth of trained labour and technical talent in the Egyptian market.

In Sudan, the Group plans to expand in automotive, trucks and land transport, hoping the recent peace agreement marks the beginning of a comprehensive developmental renaissance. In the UAE, expansion continues — supported by the country's facilities for investors and residents — with a focus on growing real-estate and commercial holdings.

On international compliance, the Group's petroleum trading and transport operations adhere to standards in force in Yemen, with UN Office permits secured before shipments are received and discharged. Petroleum products are sourced from trusted global suppliers including Total, Al-Ghurair, Trafigura and Vitol.
